🟡 Upper Beads

Each upper bead = 5 × column value. Move DOWN to activate.

🟢 Lower Beads

Each lower bead = 1 × column value. Move UP to activate.

Right-most = 1, then 10, 100 … up to 1 trillion.

Click beads to set a number

Click any upper bead to toggle 5 units for that column. Click a lower bead to toggle 1 unit. The display updates live with the total value and place-value chips.

Use the Number Pad for fast entry

Type any number using the on-screen pad (or your keyboard), then press OK or Enter. The abacus beads instantly jump to that value. Use ⌫ to backspace and +/− to negate.

Perform operations

Type a number in the Stored Operand field, then click ＋ Add, － Sub, × Mul, or ÷ Div. The result appears on the abacus with a step-by-step explanation below.

Use Memory buttons

M+ stores the current value · MR recalls it back to the abacus · MC clears memory · M+Add adds current value to stored memory.

Try Advanced operations

√ square root · x² square · Mod remainder (uses stored operand) · |x| absolute value. All results are set on the abacus automatically.

Quick Set buttons

Reset clears all beads · Max sets maximum (9,999,999,999,999) · Rnd picks a random number · ½ halves the current value.

Click New Question — a random math problem appears with a 30-second countdown. Set your answer on the abacus beads, then click Check Answer. Track your score and streak!

Read the hint bar and history

The 💡 Hint Bar cycles 16 abacus tips every 12 seconds (or press Next Tip). The History panel logs your last 40 calculations — click any row to reload that result.

Keyboard shortcuts

0–9 — type digits into the number pad

Enter — set the typed number on the abacus

Backspace — delete last digit in number pad

R — reset all beads to zero

Q — generate a new quiz question

Use ☀ to switch between dark (green/gold) and light themes. Use 🔊 to toggle bead click sounds on or off.
