♟ How to Play
Click a piece to select it. Golden dots show valid moves. Capture rings highlight enemy pieces you can take. Click a highlighted square to move.
♙ Piece Moves
- ♔ King — Moves 1 square in any direction. Protect your king!
- ♕ Queen — Moves any number of squares in any direction.
- ♖ Rook — Moves horizontally or vertically any distance.
- ♗ Bishop — Moves diagonally any distance.
- ♘ Knight — Moves in an L-shape (2+1 squares). Jumps over pieces.
- ♙ Pawn — Moves forward 1 square (2 on first move). Captures diagonally.
⚡ Special Moves
- Castling — King moves 2 squares toward rook (neither must have moved, no pieces between, not in check).
- En Passant — Pawn captures an adjacent pawn that just moved 2 squares.
- Promotion — Pawn reaching the last rank promotes to Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight.
🏆 Winning
Put the opponent's king in checkmate — attacked with no escape. Stalemate (no legal moves but not in check) is a draw.
🎮 Controls
- Start — Begin a new game with chosen settings.
- Reset — Reset the current game to starting position.
- Flip Board — Rotate board to see from Black's perspective.
- Mode — Solo (vs AI) or Two Player (local).
- Difficulty — 5 AI levels from Beginner to Grandmaster.
