Indian Rivers Map Locator Tool
What is the River Map Locator Tool?
The River Map Locator Tool is a simple interactive map (embedded on a webpage) that helps you visualize major Indian rivers on a map of India. When you select a river from the dropdown, it instantly:
- Draws the river’s flow path in thick blue line
- Shows the river name in the middle
- Marks the Source (starting point) with a green label (e.g., Gangotri Glacier)
- Marks the Mouth (ending point) with a red label (e.g., Bay of Bengal)
- Automatically zooms to the selected river
It looks like this when you select “Ganga”:
- Green label → Source: Gangotri Glacier (Himalayas)
- Blue line → Full flow path of Ganga
- Red label → Mouth: Bay of Bengal
- Big blue label in middle → “Ganga”
How to Use It (Very Easy – 2 steps)
- Go to the webpage where the tool is added (your teacher/blog/post).
- Follow these steps:
- Open the dropdown → choose any river (e.g., Godavari, Brahmaputra, Narmada, etc.)
- OR click the green “Draw River” button after selecting
- The map will instantly show the river with source and mouth
- To see another river → just select a new one (old one disappears automatically)
- To clear everything → click the brown “Reset Map” button
